Vertical Computer Systems Inc. Announces Marketing and Technical Partnership with iNetPurchasing; INetPurchasing to Market Emily XML Enabler Agent to its Customer Base of 5000 Vendors

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 20, 2000-- Vertical Computer Systems Inc. (OTCBB: VCSY), today announced that the company has formed a marketing and technical partnership with iNetPurchasing Inc., a leading provider of Internet-based government procurement services.

Under the agreement, iNetPurchasing will market Vertical Computer System's Emily(TM) technology to its customer base of more than 5000 state-approved vendors in three states as well as various local governments. The Emily XML Enabler Agent technology will be offered as an integrated part of iNetPurchasing's comprehensive e-solutions bundle as a communication interface with these vendors.

``We have performed an extensive evaluation of the Emily XML Enabler Agent over the past few months,'' said Basil Nikas, CEO of iNetPurchasing. ``After evaluating a variety of solutions and technology, we have determined that the Agent offers precisely what we need in the way of functionality, simplicity and flexibility. We see a substantial role for Emily technology in enhancing our infrastructure and providing value to our customers.''

The Emily suite of technology products is designed to aid businesses in extending their scope of business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-government (B2G) integration capabilities. Using the Emily XML Enabler Agent, vendors can easily create and publish XML product catalogs for use with the iNetPurchasing system and other aggregate buyers. The Agent technology furnishes real-time updates of product information to potential buyers and includes a built-in ``Order'' capability that allows buyers to submit purchase orders to vendors.

According to Richard Wade, president of Vertical Computer Systems Inc., ``We are offering both business and governmental sectors a powerful set of next-generation technology tools, capable of transforming communications and integration in the emerging e-procurement market. Our relationship with iNetPurchasing provides a solid launch point to introduce this technology to more than 5000 key vendors. As the market continues to expand, we see potential for substantial revenue streams for both the company and iNetPurchasing going forward.''
